Wax Modeling Workshop - Make A Pendant Necklace - MEET US at Lanstefan Arts, Launceston Cornwall

from £130.00

I’m very excited to be running a Wax Modelling workshop at Lanstefan Arts, the home of MEET US, a creative collective and sister project of The Museum of Witchcraft and Magic, in Launceston, Cornwall.

“The space is shared between both museums and Meet Us, shaped by a shared commitment to curiosity, study, and creative inquiry. It is a place to gather, observe, listen, and take part. A place where holistic and magickal work is held with care, and where there’s room for different truths to sit side by side.”

The class will be held at Lanstefan Arts shop, 28 Church St, Launceston PL15 8AR.

The class time will be:

10am-1pm / 18th October/ 6 spaces available

Each class will be split into 3 spaces for a bronze pendant and 3 for silver.

Join Ruth from Studio Rua in learning how to make your own unique pendant necklace.  Ruth creates all her designs by hand using wax as a starting point, working in the age-old technique of lost wax casting.

Ruth will talk you through the process of working in malleable wax to hand model a pendant of your own design, guiding you through some different techniques to try and how to work intuitively with the tools provided. The soft wax is the perfect medium for creating free, sculptural and personal designs.

At the end of the class your wax model will be cast in metal off site and sent back to you as a finished necklace, in either bronze or silver.

The cost of the ticket includes one pendant in either bronze or silver, along with an 18" circumference 14k gold filled or silver cable chain, plus soldered 6mm diameter jump ring of corresponding metal.

Please allow approx 3 weeks for the bronze pendant necklace to arrive with you after the workshop and approx 4 weeks for the silver due to needing to be hallmarked.

All materials are provided on the day, except aprons, so please bring one if you would prefer. Feel free to bring along any inspiration ideas to discuss on the day and also any found objects that you would like to try taking impressions with in the wax.

*A few helpful documents will be sent to you a week before the class to give you some information on the lost wax casting process and also ideas to think about, so an email will be needed on booking so these can be sent to you.

We look forward to welcoming you along!
