LONG MAN OF WILMINGTON Necklace
The Long Man of Wilmington is a figure shrouded in mystery. Originally believed to be of Neolithic date, recent work has placed his origin to around the 16th -17th centuries.
He is sat on the side of Windover Hill in East Sussex and was once also associated with the Green Man, a traditional symbol of rebirth and seasonal regeneration.
I have been fascinated with these chalk hill figures and their surrounding folk myths and legends for a long time. It felt right to try and create my own version inspired by them in metal.
You can purchase him in either solid bronze or sterling silver.
The Long Man was first created by hand in wax and each pendant is cast form the original mould, meaning each one will have the same details.
Both staves are soldered on by hand so may differ slightly from the pictures shown.
Each pendant measures 4cm tall (inc jump ring) and approx 2cm wide.
Each Long Man will be made to order so please allow approx 3/4 weeks to delivery on both bronze and silver styles from ordering to posting.
