My Lilith pendant is taken from the symbol of the astrological sign Black Moon Lilith, a visual blend of crescent moon and cross.
On researching more around the glyph of Lilith, I have seen the moon and cross referring to mind and matter and also the cross being taken from the sign for Venus, indicating the feminine nature of Lilith and the moon referencing her association with said celestial body and more so, it’s ‘dark’ side.
In astrology, Black Moon Lilith is a name given to the point of the Moon’s orbit where it is furthest from the Earth. It can represent the ‘darker’ or more shadowy areas of ones’s personality, depending on where it falls in your chart.
The history and mythology of Lilith is a complicated one, depending on what you read. She is seen as both a demon and a goddess, the original counterpart to Adam; “It is said that Lilith was made from the dust of earth like Adam, which is why she believed that both should be treated the same. Adam deemed her as his inferior and Lilith did not identify with that role. She chose to defy Adam and was forced to leave the Garden of Eden forever.” Her story is a fascinating one, I like to see her as a symbol of empowerment and resistance and it was in this spirit that I created my pendant.
The master pendant has been hand modelled my me using my favourite red wax. I wanted to crate an ancient, organic feeling pendant that would feel tactile and grounding to touch. A talisman for these times. Stay strong!
All pendants will be struck from my master mould so each one will be the same as pictured here.
Pendant measures approx 3cm high and 2cm wide.
Each pendant comes on a recycled silk cord of approx 100cm long.
Each sterling silver Lilith comes with a full UK hallmark from The Assay Office.
This listing is currently made to order, so all orders will take approx 6 weeks from ordering to posting out.
